OFabulis is a project led by Edwige Lelièvre, the Centre d’Histoire Culturelle des Sociétés Contemporaines and the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, in partnership with Emissive and the Centre des monuments nationaux, with music by Xavier Hautbois. With the participation of the G-SICA research group, the laboratoire LLS at the Université de Savoie and the IUT of Vélizy. The project is supported by the Conseil régional d’Île-de-France.
OFabulis is a video game halfway between point-and-click and MMORPG. It is based on riddles. In addition to the point-and-click system, players can choose their avatar and class (scholar, adventurer, reporter or geek), and they can form a group.
The universe of OFabulis is contemporary and fantastic. The game takes place in the impressive or intimate settings of monuments ranging from the Stone Age to the 20th century. For instance, you will be able to explore the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, the Pantheon, the Château d’If, the Basilica of Saint-Denis, the fortress of Mont-Dauphin…
The scenario of OFabulis is not linear: gradually, your group will have to make some choices that will influence the way the rest of the game plays out, as well as the way it ends.
The game combines 2D and 3D: the settings were designed from photographs, while the characters are in 3D.
